VNC server for Windows CE based Beckhoff MPC
The embedded computers of the CX series by Beckhoff allow for operating Visualizations on their Desktop. Under Windows one can access these by means of the Microsoft CERHOST.EXE program - a special Version of the Remote Desktop protocoll. For the Operation of such Visualizations under Linux and other operating systems VNC (Virtual Network Computing) is a better alternative for desktop sharing. However for Windows CE to my knowledge there are only three Implementations of a VNC server:
wincevncsvr - very simple and without any possibility for configuration
efonvnc server - seems to be the most mature one
a vnc serverdistributed by Rockwell Automation- is somewhere in between
In order to operate them on Windows CE the sources have to be recompiled using the specific SDK (Software Development Kit) for the corresponding CX device. These differ in terms of the used processor and Windows CE version.
